Muévete 1010 Transformation through Words, Action and Humility
Pascual Rodriguez never envisioned himself standing in front of an audience sharing his extraordinary path from an environment broken by emotional, physical, and psychological abuse to a position of triumph over failure with the hope of providing an inspirational message for transformational growth for others.
As an impoverished child, Pascual overcame
numerous challenges that helped construct the building blocks of perseverance by convincing himself that “this isn’t the way it’s supposed to be.” It was this mindset that set the platform for seeing the silver lining in every storm and directing his attention to the good of what’s to come from an undesirable and uncontrollable situation. Life wasn’t over, just redirected; dreams weren’t broken, just redefined; love wasn’t absent, just reintroduced.
After beating the odds and accomplishing his childhood dream of playing professional baseball, in 1989, Pascual signed a minor league contract with the California Angels. Unfortunately, Pascual’s professional baseball tenure came to an end shortly after sustaining multiple injuries that resulted in his release from the team. Although given an opportunity
to sign with another organization, Pascual rejected that opportunity, given his “why” was revealed to him at the moment of his initial release. His dream wasn’t broken, just redefined!
As an unfortunate member of a statistical cohort of students who were kicked out of high school, Pascual found his silver lining, by converting his dream from a team of baseball players to a team of students. This journey began around 1992 at Milwaukee Area Technical College (MATC), and later as a transfer student to Marquette University as a Sociology and Secondary Education major. In 1998, Pascual got his first job as a teacher at Bay View High School (Milwaukee Public Schools, MPS).
It was during this tenure that he decided to pursue his masters in Educational Leadership, at National-Louis University. Shortly after completing his masters degree, Pascual accepted a job with the United Community Center (UCC) as Assistant Principal of UCC’s Bruce Guadalupe Community School (BGCS) in 2001.
After three months as assistant principal, Pascual was promoted to Principal. Pascual served as principal at BGCS for over 18 years and was instrumental in growing the school’s enrollment from 400 students (2001) to over 1700 students (2019). In addition to the exponential growth of enrollment, Pascual created a culture of community where parents, teachers, and private and public stakeholders were encouraged and empowered to collaborate in the overall direction and success of BGCS.
On January 7, 2020, Pascual made the difficult decision to resign from his position as Principal, to answer the call and share his life’s experience and lessons learned that are designed to inspire and motivate individuals to see themselves as agents of change for the good of others. As an inspirational, and motivational speaker, Pascual’s mission is to “Move” individuals into action by focusing on four essential components:
Move Emotionally
Move Physically
Move Spiritually
Move Others
Pascual was honored in 2004 by the Milwaukee Business Journal as a recipient of the 40-under-40 award. In addition, Marquette University bestowed the honor of being the 2006 Young Alumni of the Year.
